ahoy!
the budget: S$80
the mission: hunt for dvds – the “friendly” versions (ie. friendly to our pockets)
the time limit: 3 hours
our super-quick trip to jb was a success! we spent all our money with 20 sen to spare, all under one mall (city square). we had a great time picking out from catalogue upon catalogue, and were thrilled with our finds. what little we had left for sustenance, we spent on auntie anne’s and the golden arches.
got through the jam unscathed, having entertained ourselves with a “friendly” copy of red hot chilli peppers’ greatest hits (izad air-guitaring in between waits while hana attempted scatting to ’soul to squeeze’, etc).

girls just wanna…
the last-minute outing on xmas was enjoyable to the bones. *winks* you’ve probably seen the same pictures in like three other blogs. but here is my version…
cafe samar wowed us, with superb ambience, great food, great service. and with even greater company, what more could a girl want? (and no, the answer is not hot, hunky men, silly. um, welll…)
anyway, we’d love to have the place to ourselves some day, just the ladies. somehow, being married has made me appreciate the company of females even more. aye, i must get out more…
still can’t get over the insanity of that night. a bunch of vain, estrogen-high chicks on the loose.
hmm.. what’s next, girls??
simply short weekend
coughed the whole night, so the doc gave me magic medicine and magic mc for the day. i hate drugs, they make me woozy.
the weekend was too short anyway. so it was nice to stay home on a monday with mum. izad only *just* returned from his jb trip with dad. heh, male bonding, guys?
hana jr got married…

as for the rest of the weekend, three long hours were spent watching ‘lord of the ring: return of the king’, hazarding numb butts and bursting bladders. we were practically willing the hobbits to quickly end their tearful goodbyes so we could make a beeline to the loo. we were sorely disappointed that no one (crucial) died and that it was a sorta happy ending.
an uneventful hour was spent at a car accessories shopping mall all the way in bukit batok. and all izad bought were a can of stuff to clean the car with, and a wiper-thingy… (obviously i’m not very good at car jargon.)

and a few quiet hours were spent having dinner at magic wok and catching up with is & faizal, and then trawling kinokuniya and borders.

monday morning
i’m now at the mitsubishi service centre. baby colt needs servicing after more than 3 months on the road. very nice waiting area, with music, refreshment, newspaper and yes!! internet access…
my darling is resting at home, she’s taking MC today as she’s got a bad sore throat and because its monday… hehe.. anyway, i think she’s still asleep right now..
its going to be a busy day today. after this, i’m off to sonyericsson service centre to upgrade my Z600 firmware and next stop, Tanjong Pagar for my yearly medical checkup. maybe wash the car after that.. in the afternoon, i’m going JB with my ayah-in-law to buy friendly versions of movie dvds..
and finally in the evening, i’m off to Pondok Gurame for dinner with my colleagues. maybe can ask my wife to follow… hmm.. dunno if she’s feeling ok..
new toy
we were at funan earlier today and just happened to stop by the ericsson booth to admire the new range of mobiles. then we somehow came about bargaining with the sales rep on an agreeable price for two pieces of the z600 (for hana and me!), but the owner wouldn’t budge when we asked for a mere $20 lesser off the total price they quoted. so we didnt buy them – hah, their loss! i searched in yahoo auction and found a seller for a practically brand new set at a much cheaper price. so off i went to collect it, and…
tada! get a load of my newly-acquired gadget – the sony ericsson z600…

still fiddling with the bluetooth detection….
random midnite thought
when i grow up, i wanna be a CSI. just mention “potassium.. phosphorus”, a light bulb appears above my head, and case is solved. brilliant.
what do you wanna be when you grow up?
holland v
i love going for courses. apart from sometimes boring lectures that hearken tutorials in nus, and me fighting to stay awake and sane. the course venue is close to holland v, so lunch breaks will find me making the five minute walk there, and selecting from the array of fast-food available – kfc, burger king, delifrance – a break from the monotony of canteen food. or making a leisurely round at the shops selling seemingly exotic items. and of course, the rows and rows of magazines at the mama shops! and my selection for today was Q magazine, my favourite.

it’s been a mighty long time since i’ve indulged in buying glossies. i’m always chiding izad for wasting his money on costly magazines (ie. gadget ones!) which he chucks aside after one read. it’s also been a mighty long time since we bought cds, for that matter. we’re always out on a prowl for pirated cds, or borrowing from someone to burn them.
small things like mags and cds which used to be a regular part of our youths have become a rare luxury these days.
abang’s wedding
the pics are up! flip through day one and day two…
the highlights for hana included her happily scattering rose petals at the bride & groom and making a mess during the tepung tawar ceremony, handing out mini cups of ice-cream to the kiddies (and some oldies), and being the unofficial photographer extraordinaire.
twentysix
thanks to all for your wishes!
wanted to save them all in a blog for memories… so i’m copying and pasting them here. didnt manage to save all coz of the stupidly short tagboard
but for the record, dee or nur, i think you guys were the first to wish me happy b’day, heh…

yes, 26 yesterday finally. now in the region of the “late-twenties”, over the quarter century mark.
woke up late yesterday, and izad toasted some of our favourite frozen delifrance mini rolls, with yesterday’s rendang which has absorbed the flavours fully. then he made me his version of milo godzilla and ate some tauhui. low-key meal, heh.
after 3, we went to fatimah hameed’s studio (actually a three-storey terrace at changi), and had kak fatimah (mohsin) don me up… ni lah, birthday minah mentel suka ambik gambar, haha!

makeup for extra on the set of The Bride of Frankenstein…

the result…

bride&groom all over again
izad had relented on another bridal shoot as a gift, since hana was not satisfied with the ones taken earlier. took some proper shots, some silly ones, and then left the studio for some outdoor shots. we had some audience naturally, but it wasnt too bad since it was a monday night, not too crowded. we certainly had more fun this time round, better than at RH. hope hope hope the pics turn out well. thank you to the two kak fatimahs for their time, and thank you darling for going along with me and being my accessory! heheee…
couldnt meet up with dee since it was late by the time we ended, so she couldnt taste the lovely cake cik norain had made for me. we headed for nur & azfar’s house, where we devoured their mum’s mee bandung and the cake….

surprise pink wedding bear came with the cake!

izad, hana & pink bear awaits the chomping ceremony…

get well baloon for nur, courtesy of dee

chomp chomp chomp…
memories of lilies
the sweet scent of lilies will always remind mum and i of two important occasions in our lives – the weddings in our family. i had a roomful of them during mine, and we had bunches of them in the hall during my brother’s. think i’ll get them from darling husband for every anniversary? (*hint hint nudge nudge*)…

the bro’s wedding went well. what a busy and tiring affair! but fun nonetheless. mum and dad kept grabbing and introducing me to the guests, who went “oh, ni yang pengantin hari tu?”. other than being the PR person for the event, i was also one of the unofficial photographers (inspired by isnarti’s penchant for capturing wonderful photos, heh). my brother stayed rather cool throughout the whole event. the couple looked great, it was a pretty good wedding in all.
the pictures say it all, and they’ll be up reaaal soon…..
ps: mad at a certain someone who deleted the painstaking photos i took of the gubahans on saturday! *shakes fist at silly culprit*
