toil and trouble

i first met them two years ago when they were wee little babies close to aniq’s age now.

that was back when i was a somewhat baby naysayer, only happy to coo at them at an arm’s length, or at most, hold them for a few minutes before passing them back to their respective parents. a far cry from the diaper-changing, puke-wiping, baby-talking, milk-making machine that i am now.

my, how we’ve all grown since, those babies and me.

spending a day with one toddler is, i can imagine, rather tiring. but spending a day with TWO, oh what an experience! their veteran of a mother is ever so patient, not only tending to their different moods, but also retrieving both tods from wherever they’d wandered off to and placing the loot found in their sticky hands back on the shelves. hehee!

the cool hunk coolly sucked on his fist even when a frog threatened to climb its way up his belly, while the girls soon warmed up to me with my silly alligator and chocolate panda jokes.

by the end of the day, they were so warmed up, they showered the little one with passionate kisses. see, girls kiss with their eyes closed, but boys like to see what’s happening. lol!

can you tell that one of the twins has a more sociable disposition? i think this one has the mentel potential. just like aunty hana.

i realised after that, that i have it easy with only one babe in tow. two at one go? i’d be frazzled out of my wits. but i better not speak too soon, coz… i have twin genes in my family too. how lovely would that be?

meanwhile, good luck to you ah, rin, on your impending twin boys! jia yo, you can do it! :D

baby’s days out

my days with the little one vary every day. he’s happy as a junebug when i bring him out on our little daily trips and excursions.

there’s the malls, of course. the odd errands. the lunches, the visits. the explorations of places i’d never been to. some hot days, i’d just drive around the block with him with the aircon on full blast, for the heck of it.

there’s always something to do, somewhere to go each day.

such as sending dad to and fro the hospital.

he’s still not doing too good. he’ll be starting on water dialysis soon.

and when he’s lying in the ward, or while things are being done on his slowly-deteriorating body, we have the the baby to keep us distracted.

he keeps himself and us busy too, with his occassional poops and other demands.

thank god for the baby.

i love thinking up of ways to spend each day with him.

even if it’s just a boring afternoon in a hospital surrounded by nurses and old people in wheelchairs.

close to me

finally, his baba came back from his expedition to the greener pasture, which was, er, not so green after all.

as we’d predicted, he was hesitant at first and clung on to his mummy when his baba offered to pick him up. but after he saw his baba carrying aniq – the first time he’s met the little one – his wall of resistance fell.

five months, and he still remembers his baba. five months, in which he’d learnt to walk AND talk. five months, of missing all that action.

i could never do that, sacrifice five months to pursue my dreams, away from my little one.

my five precious months, they’re only to be close by my babe.

hanas’ jrs

hello again, baby yazid!

i can’t believe my bub used to be as small and sleepy as you.

oh, your great-grandma cooks a mean spaghetti. you’ll grow waaay bigger than my bub if she feeds you like that. hee.

and tya, we wanna ride in your babylatio again please. bau kereta baru sedap ah.

nitecap

and when the baby’s asleep…

dadam’s demo

changing baby’s diaper is easy peasy, like 1, 2, 3.

let supertoddler dadam give you a demo.

first, you flatten out a fresh new diaper.

next, undo the buttons on baby’s romper.

remember to remove his socks, wouldn’t want to get them dirty, now.

then, er, wipe, wipe, wipe!

ok, so he’s a tad overzealous with the baby wipes there.

actually, he’d taken the baby wipe, toddled up to his oma and pretended to swipe her crotch with it over her butterfly dress, to his mum’s horror and to our delight.

LOL!

ye lah, pandai. maybe next time, you can demonstrate changing adult diapers ok.
